As tributes continue to pour in for the late Malava MP Malulu Injendi, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa this evening visited the family at their home in Lugusi, Chemuche Ward, to offer his condolences.

Speaking to journalists, Governor Barasa eulogized Malulu as a dedicated leader who was committed to his work and valued peace both in his constituency and beyond.

He urged leaders to respect the wishes of the bereaved family and refrain from turning the funeral into a political platform.

“Malulu was a great person who always advocated for peace. As a county, we have lost a committed and visionary leader. As we prepare to bid him farewell, I urge everyone to maintain peace during his funeral in honor of his legacy,” Barasa said.

The governor also announced that his administration would cater for food and other logistical needs until the burial, which is scheduled for March 4, 2025.

The family is mourning not only the late MP but also his stepbrother, Samuel Injendi, who passed away on 16th this month, just a day before Malulu died.

Samuel’s burial is set for this Saturday.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. We will stand with them until the very end,” Barasa reaffirmed.

Malulu Injendi, who was serving his third term as Malava MP, was known for his significant contributions to education and community development.

His sudden demise has left a void in Kakamega’s political landscape, with Malava residents and leaders across the country paying tribute to his legacy.
