Kakamega County Deputy Governor, H.E. Hon. Ayub Savula, now fears for his life after his official vehicle was attacked by unknown assailants on Friday night in Kisumu.

This incident comes months after a similar attack on October 23, 2024, when his personal vehicle, a Toyota V8 (registration number KCN 710B), was hit by an unidentified car in a suspected hit-and-run in Nairobi.

Speaking during the launch of the Mukhuyu Community-Based Organisation (CBO) at Musungu Primary School in Malava Sub-county, where he represented Kakamega Governor H.E. FCPA Fernandes Barasa, Savula alleged that his vehicle was being trailed by a white Probox before the attack occurred at the gate of a residential estate.

“Whoever is after me, leave me alone. I have young children to educate,” he said.

The Deputy Governor noted that both attacks had targeted the front passenger seat, where he occasionally sits.

“I had sent my driver to drop off Hon. Saitama where he was staying, and the vehicle was attacked. If I had been in that car, I would be dead. By now, I would be in the mortuary,” he recounted.

Following the latest attack, Hon. Savula reported the matter at Kisumu Police Station and called for thorough investigations.

“Investigations are ongoing. I have neither taken your wife nor your job. I am a pastor’s child; I hold no grudges against anyone,” he stated.

He dismissed the possibility of coincidence, insisting that someone was deliberately targeting him. He urged those behind the attacks to reconsider their actions.

The occupants of the vehicle, including the driver, narrowly escaped unhurt.

Meanwhile, Savula weighed in on national politics, asserting that Western Kenya leaders would not allow the impeachment of National Assembly Speaker Moses Masika Wetang’ula.
