President William Ruto and his UDA allies have issued a stern warning to individuals inciting Kenyans against his government. Speaking during a prayer meeting in Cheptais, Ruto and his team launched a fresh verbal assault on former President Uhuru Kenyatta, criticizing his recent statements supporting Gen Z in their reformist pursuits.
Rutos’ allies described Uhuru’s comments as inappropriate and a direct affront to the current administration. Ruto called on parents and leaders to guide the younger generation responsibly, stating:
“Young people deserve the best from us, not incitement to violence and destruction. That will not solve their problems or the country’s problems. We cannot abandon our children to their ways. Call them Gen Z or any other name, but we have a duty to mentor and guide them because their success is our country’s success. Tomorrow, we want a morally upright and responsible generation.”
Criticism from UDA Allies
Sirisia MP John Waluke condemned Uhuru’s public endorsement of Gen Z’s activism, labeling it reckless. “That was reckless of him, a former president of a republic like Kenya. It’s jealousy! But he should know that if this country burns, he will suffer too. Retire peacefully and enjoy your pension,” Waluke said, urging the youth to disregard Uhuru’s advice.
Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama echoed these sentiments, asking Uhuru to respect Ruto’s leadership. “We supported you during your tenure. Stop interfering in the current administration. Ruto was democratically elected and deserves respect,” Wanyama stated.
Ruto Reaffirms Commitment to Unity
Ruto reiterated his dedication to uniting the nation, dismissing critics of his administration as individuals with no viable alternatives. “Don’t bother with those opposing the government without an alternative plan. They are just making noise left, right, and center,” Ruto said.
He emphasized that no community, region, or religion would be left behind under his leadership. “We will leave no one behind,” he affirmed.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula expressed confidence in Ruto’s leadership, quoting Shakespeare: “Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.” Wetang’ula pledged unwavering support for the president, adding, “Our president found our country in a very bad state. Now, we have employed more teachers, subsidized fertilizer, and significantly increased maize production. We are food secure and have enough maize and sugar. The country is on the right track.”
Musalia Mudavadi Joins UDA
Chief Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi announced that he had officially folded his ANC party to join UDA. Explaining this decision, Mudavadi said:
“We merged as a country to build a strong and stable nation, not to fight any tribe. This unity is about creating a better Kenya for all.”
With mounting political tensions, Ruto and his allies appear focused on solidifying their governance agenda while countering opposition voices. As the political landscape evolves, all eyes remain on the administration’s next steps in addressing national challenges and fostering unity.
