Andrew Mache’s Blueprint for Change in Isukha South Ward

By Hilda Atika

In the vibrant yet challenged Isukha South Ward, one man is determined to change the narrative. Andrew Mache, an aspiring Member of County Assembly (MCA), has set his sights on transforming the region’s education infrastructure and spearheading development projects to uplift the community.

For Mache, education is at the heart of progress. Collaborating closely with Shinyalu MP Fred Ikana, he has launched an initiative to improve school infrastructure, starting with the construction of pit latrines—a basic but essential need for many schools in the area. During a visit to Shidodo Primary School, where MP Ikana inaugurated a multi-storey classroom building, Mache passionately spoke about the dire state of school facilities.

“Our schools are in poor condition, and it’s unacceptable. Roads are impassable, and we lack bridges. I have already started a program to upgrade roads to bitumen standards,” he said, his voice firm with resolve. Mache didn’t shy away from criticizing the current MCA, Charles Lwanga, accusing him of failing to deliver on development promises since his election in 2022.

“The current MCA is just there for formality. Come 2027, the public will ensure he leaves office. If I am elected, I will transform this ward and address these challenges head-on,” he added.

Education: A Priority for Transformation

Mache believes that education is the cornerstone of progress. He urged residents to embrace and prioritize education, emphasizing its potential to create a brighter future for the community. Highlighting MP Ikana’s efforts to construct classroom buildings, Mache assured residents that these projects are for the benefit of students, not personal gain.

“He could have built these multi-storey buildings in major towns and markets, but he chose schools because they matter to students. With better facilities, students will perform better and contribute to building the nation in the years to come,” he said, drawing applause from attendees.

A Vision for Holistic Development

Beyond education, Mache’s vision includes a comprehensive development agenda. He plans to launch initiatives to construct and upgrade roads, ensure adequate sanitation facilities in schools, and create job opportunities for the youth. These goals, he believes, are critical to addressing the root causes of poverty and underdevelopment in Isukha South Ward.

Challenges on the Campaign Trail

However, Mache’s journey has not been without obstacles. He revealed that he has faced physical attacks and character defamation by political opponents. Despite these challenges, he remains steadfast in his mission.

“One of my supporters was stabbed eight times, and yet the suspect was set free,” he lamented. “These acts of violence and intimidation must stop. I urge my opponents to embrace lawful and genuine politics.”

The Road Ahead

With the 2027 general elections in sight, Mache is preparing to unveil his manifesto. His agenda promises transformative changes, including infrastructure improvements, better sanitation, and youth empowerment. He believes that with the support of the community, Isukha South Ward can rise to new heights.

“The challenges we face now will be history if we come together and commit to change. This is our time to build a better future for our children and our community,” he concluded with determination.

Andrew Mache’s vision is clear: a ward where education thrives, roads are passable, and opportunities abound for all. As the campaign trail heats up, only time will tell if his promises resonate with the people of Isukha South Ward—a community hungry for change.
